Word of Mouth: Pip Thornton talks Poem.py, Engineering Fictions and the Monetised School of Poetry with Michael Rosen – Tues, 23rd Jan @ 4pm BBC 4

EF 2.17 features on Word of Mouth

Throwback Alert!!!

On Tuesday 23rd January at 4pm, Engineering Fictions catalyst Pip Thornton will speak with Michael Rosen about her intervention into the Google Ad Words world via her Poem.py device.

Pip catalysed a session of EF on Valentines Day, 2017. After discussing the implications, poetic and political, of the monetisation of language via algorithms and network capitalism, we composed poems with Pip’s Poem.py receipt machine. During our session, we wrote the most and least expensive Love Poems we could imagine on that day. And these poems will feature in the show!

Thanks to Pip and to all the participants from that session (Tom O’Dea, Fiona McDermot, Fiona Hallinan, Marguerite Barry, Francis Halsall, Jernej Hribar, and Jonathan van de Belt.
