Catalysts: Jessica Foley, Gareth Young and Burcin Yazgi-Walsh
Host: The Russell Library, Maynooth University
Date: Tuesday 4th June
Time: 2 – 4.30pm
On Tuesday 4th June, from 2 – 4:30pm, the second Engineering Fictions session of 2019 will take place in The Russell Library at Maynooth University based on the seed-topic of Fuzzy Personae. This seed emerged out of conversations with Burcin Yazgi-Walsh and Gareth Young of the Building City Dashboards team.
This session will bring together researchers from the Building City Dashboards team at MUSSI to explore and open out the idea of Fuzzy Personae set against/amongst conditions being generated in the presence of ‘smart’ technologies, and in relation to the design and development of interfaces like city dashboards.
While personae are intended to make the design process clearer and simpler through the systematic use of constraints, data and imagination, we’ll be introducing some ‘fuzzy’ notions that will challenge us to enlarge our understanding of this performative process of invention.
The aim is to open up a conversation that will help us to improvise together multiple points of view and experiences of Fuzzy Personae and then to filter these through specific writing games. It will be both strange and enjoyable.
While these workshops are devised with the Building City Dashboards project team in mind, we welcome others to come along and contribute. If you are interested in getting involved in this session please contact Jessica.Foley@mu.ie. Places are limited!
